Golf – Bob Hope Classic Preview
We were once again let down by a weak final round last week with both Zach Johnson and Rory Sabbatini having poor rounds to take them out of contention.
The tour moves back to California for the Bob Hope Classic which is contested over a marathon 5 round event.
The first player to jump out at me this week is Chad Campbell. Despite a third round 73 at the Sony Open he hit back with a 66 on Sunday to finish 8th. He performed well last season with two 2nd place finishes and was unlucky to miss out on a Major. To boost his credentials he has good form here winning back in 2006 and finishing 9th last year. Not only does he have the class to compete in any event he knows what it takes to succeed here and knows the stamina will play a key part in winning this week.

Chad Campbell – Each-Way – 22/1 (Bet365, Coral)
Michael Sim makes his 2010 debut this week and the Aussie who dominated the Nationwide Tour in 2009 could be set to surprise a few people this week. Michael clearly has the game to compete at this level and he showed a lot of class when making the cut in both the US Open and PGA Championships last year which has propelled him to 49th in the World Rankings He comes into this season in the form of his life and he will be determined to make a mark this week.

Michael Sim – Each-Way – 40/1 (General)
The fact the Bob Hope Classic is competed over 5 rounds means the score is always low. Birdies are essential and to make birdies you need to be able to hit the greens. John Senden has consistently hit greens in regulations (1st in GIR percentage in 2009) and with a stat of 15th in scoring average it would suggest he has a great chance this week. John has competed here nine times and has made the cut every time including 9th last year, 5th in 2006 and 6th in 2005.

John Senden – Each-Way – 33/1 (General)
An outsider that looks to have a chance this week is Bill Haas. He has finished in the top 35 in all his starts at this event but he is yet to make the step up and compete in the top ten. However, you need to be aggressive at this event and like I said a lot of birdies are a must, this player is certainly aggressive. Last year Mr Haas shot 5 rounds at 68 or below which puts him in good stead and he has shown in the past he has the ability to go even lower this year. He must be disappointed with last weeks display and will want to rectify that with a good performance here.

Bill Haas – Each-Way – 100/1 (Ladbrokes, Will Hill)
