Along with our winner on the PGA tour we also had a nice priced winner on the European Tour in Martin Kaymer who paid out at 14/1.

Much like the Phil Mickelson in the Farmers, one player stands out near the top of the betting and although they may seem a short price they cannot be ignored. I only have three picks here as nothing else jumps out at me and I don’t want to suggest a player for the sake of it.

If you follow these updates I would imagine a number of you also read the previews in the Racing Post. Despite Jeremy Chapman and Steve Palmer being brilliant golf tipsters I like to try and find different options for you. However, I cannot disagree with them on Henrik Stenson this week. Henrik has great form here in Qatar and we all know he is a big time player with wins in the Accenture Match Play and the Players Championship. Despite a poor start last week he finished strongly and comes here with a record of 1 win, 3 seconds and a seventh place finish. There’s nobody with stronger trends than the Swede.

Henrik Stenson – 12/1 (Bwin) 11/1 (General)

The second player I like the look of and I am taking a chance on is Camilo Villegas. Camilo has made a name for himself the last few years and has turned into a very popular player on both PGA and European Tour. He finished a respectable 19th last week at 11 under and would have appreciated getting back into a rhythm. He has a successful 2009 but a strong characteristic is he has started the last two seasons strongly. His first 6 events of 2009 on the PGA Tour yielded 3 top tens. If you go through his stats he looks very strong with a long drive, sitting 6th for driving accuracy and 2nd for greens in regulation. I personally think he is a big price after shooting his last three rounds in the 60’s.

Camilo Villegas – Each-Way – 40/1 (General)

The final player I have chosen is Soren Hansen. Soren Hansen catches my eye for his current form. He comes here with his last three finishes all being within the top ten, including last weeks strong finish at the Abu Dhabi championship. His course form isn’t scintillating but hasn’t been in form like this when playing here and that could make all the difference and based on that fact I would personally have him priced at around 28/1 mark rather than the 33/1 that is available.

Soren Hansen – Each – Way – 33/1 (General)

Away from the win market a match bet has really caught my eye. Ian Poulter played some great golf last week and simply come across a very good player in Martin Kaymer on Sunday. However, with VC he is matched up against Lee Westwood who is struggling with the new groove technology and was all over the place last week when on his way to missing the cut. New sets have been shipped out to Lee but it may still take a while to get used to his new equipment so I would side with Ian at evens.
