Football – Free Weekend Preview
A good weekend last week with three nice priced winner so let’s hope we can continue that trend here.
Since beating Manchester United at Old Trafford Leeds have been on some what of a wobble in the league and have not recorded a win in three. After getting comprehensively beaten by Swindon the last thing Leeds would have wanted is a tough game and Colchester will most certainly be seen as a tough game. The U’s have experienced some heavy defeats themselves of late but they bounced back with a 2-0 win over a confident MK Dons side and they must be going to Elland Road believing they can get a result. At the prices available I think Colchester are good value.

Colchester United – Draw no Bet – 16/5 (VC) 3/1 (Bet365)
A few weeks ago I suggested Shrewsbury away at Chesterfield at a big price and one of the reasons was because this league is so unpredictable. I am going to stand by that this week. However, this time I am going to go against the Shrews. This week they host Accrington with both teams in good form. Stanley’s form of late has impressed me and they have only one defeat in nine. They beat Shrewsbury at home and will look at this game as a great opportunity to really prove themselves as play-off contenders. Shrewsbury have always been fairly inconsistent and, just like Colchester, Accrington look the value here.
Bettrends Advice
Accrington Stanley – 3/1 (Skybet, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, Coral)
Reading have been the talk of the town recently with a famous FA Cup win against Liverpool and then following that up by knocking out Burnley. Despite this they still sit second bottom with no win in seven in the league. Admittedly they have faced some good teams recently in Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest but I’m afraid that is no excuse for their run of form and confidence must still be low. They are painfully inconsistent with their performances and therefore their opponents today, Barnsley, look the bet. The Tykes have distanced themselves from the relegation scrap but have also been inconsistent of late. However, a good win against Leicester last time out will breed self-belief and the 3/1 looks a good price.
Bettrends Advice
Barnsley – 3/1 (Bluesq)
Peterborough fans may feel I am doing this on purpose coming from Northampton but for the second week on the trot, Posh look set for another loss on their travels. This week they play Palace who, as we all know, have been deducted ten points after going into administration. However, Neil Warnock will just use that as an excuse to get his players fired up for the game. Posh at current look to be missing nine first team players included keeper Joe Lewis and star man George Boyd. Palace have a few injury problems themselves but they will look to goal machine Darren Ambrose to get the Eagles flying again.
Bettrends Advice
Darren Ambrose 1st Goalscorer – 6/1 (Skybet)
Portsmouth’s troubles are well documented and things seem to be going from bad to worse for the south coast side. Stories this week about their website being shut down because of unpaid bills and Avram Grant being slashed in the odds to be next to leave his post will have only hindered the players preparations for their away trip to Manchester City. City will want to bounce back from the bitterly disappointing defeat to their main rivals in the Carling Cup and there is no better way to do that than to humiliate Pompey on Sunday. I personally cannot see anything but an easy win for City and therefore some correct score bets look on the cards.
Bettrends Advice
Manchester City – win 3-0 – 8/1 (Bluesq)
Manchester City – win 4-0 – 14/1 (Boyles, BlueSq)
