FOOTBALL – FREE WEEKEND PREVIEW
A tricky looking weekend’s football ahead of us but I’m sure we’ll be able to find some decent wagers. If February gets off to as good a start as we had in January, then we should get off to a flier.
The Merseyside derby gets us underway this weekend and Anfield is sure to be rocking come lunchtime. Nevertheless, Everton are fancied to create a bit of an upset. The Toffees are unbeaten in nine and David Moyes’ side will fancy thier chances against a much weaker Liverpool side than normal. With top scorer Fernando Torres still sidelined, Dirk Kuyt has been relied upon to fire them into the top four but, if Everton can keep him quiet, they should have a great chance of taking three points back across Stanley Park.

Everton – 15/4 (Boylesports)
The rest of the Premier League either looks too tough to call or devoid of value, so we shall turn our attention to the lower leagues. High-flying West Brom sit second in the Championship and travel to Home Park off of the back of an impressive performance away at Blackpool in mid-week. Couple that with Plymouth being one of the lesser sides in the second tier and the Baggies seem a very solid bet. This view is further enhanced when looking at the head-to-head record between the two sides. Paul Mariner’s team have won only one of their last seven home matches against the Midlands side and that looks likely to turn into one from eight.

West Brom – 5/6 (Betfred)
One of the surprise packages in League One this year is Brentford. The newly promoted Londoners sit comfortably in the top half of the table and have been playing well despite having a tough schedule recently. Three of their last four league games have been against top sides Southampton, Norwich and Charlton and they have been far from disgraced against any of these quality competitors. The Bees should fancy their chances against a Gillingham side that are winless away from home. Mark Stimson’s Gills rely heavily on star striker Simeon Jackson finding the net, so if Brentford can mark him out of the game, they should come out on top.
