Eyecatchers – 15th Feb 10

Xtrends

There were many eyecatching performances over the weekend and let’s start with NICHE MARKET. Having already tipped him in my horses to follow service at 33/1 for the Grand National it was great to see him run so well in what proved to be a great Grand National trial. He jumped really well throughout and was not intimidated by Denman. The wide track at Newbury really appears to suit him and that is what he will get at Aintree. Although just touched off close home by Tricky Trickster his chances for the big race are clear to see. TRICKY TRICKSTER also caught my eye as he also jumped well and stayed on very strongly up the long run in, which again is something required at Aintree. Winning this class one event was crucial to his chances as recently it has proved vital to have grade one winning form to land the Grand National.

MANYRIVERSTOCROSS ran a cracker in the totesport hurdle, with the strong pace playing to his strengths. He looks attractively handicapped and could be one for the County Hurdle at Cheltenham.

MASTER MINDED is back and it is great to have him back. He jumped well (apart from the last) and it was a good performance to beat Mahogany Blaze as easily as he did conceding ten pounds. Cheltenham next and he will obviously be hard to beat in the Champion Chase.
