Hopefully you backed the 0-0 draw we highlighted in last weekend’s Serie A clash between Napoli and Inter Milan at 9/1 or took the 9/4 for the draw. We also enjoyed good fortune in Germany’s Bundesliga with Monchengladbach (evens) winning and Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt giving us a decent double. We’ll try to find some more winners this weekend.

France

This season’s surprise package Montpellier can continue their title charge with victory at St Etienne on Saturday evening. To me they look overpriced at 12/5 with Victor Chandler. Second in the table just three points behind Marseille, Montpellier are second favourites to win the game despite holding one of the best away records in the league. And having won six of their last eight games – a record that puts them second in the form table – they look a great bet to overcome out-of-form St Etienne, who are hovering above the relegation zone with just six wins all season. St Etienne have scored only 17 goals in 24 league games and I’m also looking to back a 1-0 win for Montpellier, who have won their last five games without conceding.

Another team worth supporting this weekend are Valenciennes, who at 19/10 with Bet365 look a good proposition to overcome bottom of the table Grenoble. They travel to the basement club on Saturday evening and, having failed to score just twice all season on the road, they should prove good enough to inflict a 19th defeat of the season on Grenoble.

Bettrends Advice

Valenciennes – 19/10 (Bet365)

Montpellier – 12/5 (Victor Chandler)

Montpellier 1-0 – 15/2 (Victor Chandler)

Germany

Two of the five Saturday afternoon games in the Bundesliga look to have decent punting opportunities with Bayern Munich worth supporting in the handicap. Bayern are 2/5 chances for their trip to face second from bottom Nurnberg, but I see no reason why they won’t comfortably notch a 10th successive league victory (all but one of the previous nine have been by more than one goal) and therefore the 6/5 Bet365 are offering for Bayern -1 on the handicap looks to good to resist.

The other Saturday game that catches my eye is the clash between in-form pair Hamburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, who have exactly the same record in the last eight games and who have just five points between them in the table. The pair drew 1-1 in September and there is every chance they will prove hard to separate again and backing the draw at 10/3 with Stan James or Coral is advisable.

Hamburg–Frankfurt draw – 10/3 (Stan James, Coral)

Bayern Munich -1 – 6/5 (Bet365)

Italy

Following their defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday, AC Milan face a tricky trip to Bari in Serie A on Sunday and they may have to settle for a point at best. Milan have failed to score in their last two away fixtures and could do without having to face a side who have lost just once on their own turf in the league all season, that being back in September. The draw at 23/10 (Bet365 and Sky Bet) looks the best call.

Elsewhere in Serie A, I’m going for a double on Genoa and Cagliari which would pay just short of 3/1. Genoa are available at evens with Stan James and Coral to see off Udinese in the first game of the weekend on Saturday evening and that looks decent value. They have one of the best home records having been beaten just once this season and are facing a side yet to win on their travels. Double them up with Cagliari, a general 10/11 chance whose solid home form should ensure Parma’s miserable 2010 form continues with just two points accumulated since the turn of the year.

Bari-AC Milan draw – 23/10 (Bet365, Sky Bet)

Genoa and Cagliari double – approximately 2.8/1

Spain

Mallorca face their toughest test yet as the bid to maintain their 100 per cent home record in La Liga this season when they host Sevilla in Saturday evening’s televised game. Only Real Madrid can better Mallorca’s record of 10 wins from as many home games this season but there is every chance that they will match the 11 straight wins on Saturday. Sevilla have lost their last three away games in La Liga and are likely to have their minds on Wednesday’s Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow and their seems little point in opposing another Mallorca victory with 6/4 available almost across the board.

Bettrends Advice

Mallorca – 6/4 (general)
