Golf – Free WM Phoenix Open Preview
Firstly let me apologise for the lack of update last week, especially with the results that occured. Anyway, we will try and bounce back this week with just three picks.
I’m going to start this weeks update with a live outsider. DJ Trahan has bounced back from missing the cut in his seasonal debut at the Sony Open and recorded three top quality finishes. He finished 10th at the AT&T, 47th at the Northern Trust and 7th at the Bob Hope. If it wasn’t for a disappointing 73 in the final round at Pebble Beach he could have finished a lot higher. Other than a 17th place finish last year, DJ’s record here is not great, however a 17th place finish last year followed a similar start to this year and his confidence must be high. He only finished six shots behind last year and can build on that this year. His scoring average is strong, he sits in the top 20 in GIR and if he can improve his driving accuracy this week, he has a great chance.

DJ Trahan – Each-Way – 80/1 (General)
I am going with a previous piece of advice and siding with Matt Kuchar. Matt has been in great form this year its good to see him carrying on with great confidence. Matt finished sixth here last year, only three shots back after form which looks very average compared to this years start. He must have fond memories of this event as that sixth place finish led to five more events without a missed cut. Before having to withdraw he was going well in the AT&T and will want to bounce back from last weeks early exit. He stands high on the list for numerous stats and still sits first for final round scoring average. He looks a good each way bet at the odds

My final pick for this week is Lucas Glover. Despite two uninspiring finishes the last two years, Lucas recorded top-20 finishes in both 2006 and 2007. Importantly he is in good form so far this year. A missed cut at the Sony Open is saddled by a 14th place finish at the SBS and a 9th at the Farmers. He will also want to bounce back in stroke play this week after a first round defeat at the WGC last week. Lucas sits 6th for GIR and par breakers and if his putter is hot this week he will be hard to catch. Another reason I like the look of Lucas is he is overpriced at 66/1 with Boylesports (40s or 50′s elsewhere).
