Eyecatchers – 5th Mar 10

Xtrends

We are set for a quiet weekend as the vast majority of leading horses are holding fire until the Cheltenham Festival, which is just over a week away.

I hope you enjoyed reading the Ante-Post advice and managed to get on at some good prices. There are just two horses that catch my eye this weekend and the first is PASCO in the 3.10 at Newbury. H e ran a blinder over course and distance in November, going down by just half a length to an inform rival in Mount Oscar and the third has come out and won well since. He was also in the process of running a good race against course specialist Duc De Regniere at Kempton until falling three out and ran respectably last time out at Exeter. This is his course though and a mark of 145 looks fair and given that most of his rivals are ever out of form or need further than this trip, he stands out and should run a huge race for the dominant team of Nicholls and Walsh.

The second horse is WOGAN up at Doncaster. He has always promised to be a good horse and this season he has got his act together. Firstly he stayed on well over an inadequate two and a half miles at Kempton and then last time out, stepped up to three miles, he ran out an impressive winner over course and distance and with the handicapper only putting him up nine pounds, I believe he can follow up. He has got in at the bottom of the handicap with a weight of just 10-2 and will be fresher than most and combined with the fact that Nicky Henderson continues to be in top form, I expect a big run.
