Following hot on the heels of Glorious Goodwood, York’s prestigious Ebor Meeting offers four days of thrilling action.

The meeting gets underway on Tuesday 17th August with the highly esteemed Juddmonte International Stakes quite rightly taking centre stage. This Group 1 contest was one of the races won by Seas The Stars during his perfect season last year. St Leger hopefuls will be putting their credentials on the line in the Sportingbet.com Great Voltigeur Stakes, a Group 2 contest over 1m4f, whilst the juveniles also get the chance to shine in the Group 3 Goffs Acomb Stakes over 7f. Two valuable handicaps and a nursery complete the line up on Day 1.

The Group 2 Weatherbys Lonsdale Cup sees the cream of the stayers testing their mettle over a challenging 2 mile course whilst the Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes is aimed at the other end of the spectrum, speedy juveniles. Although the Totesport Ebor is only a handicap it is by far the richest race of the day. Run over a challenging 1m6f, the Ebor is a race that many of the runners will have been aimed at since the start of the season. The supporting card offers a listed contest and two fiercely competitive handicaps.

On Thursday the fillies get a chance to since in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks, a race worth £310,000. Hot on its heels, prize money wise, is the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes, a race for juveniles over 6f, which always attracts a competitive line up. The Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes is usually another hot juvenile contest, with this particular Group 2 designed solely for fillies’. A listed race and two valuable handicaps conclude things on the penultimate day.

The Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes takes centre stage on the concluding day, a race in which many of Europe’s top sprinters will be pitting their wits against each other. The Group 3 Sky Bet Strensall Stakes, a listed race, two competitive handicaps and a maiden bring this historic meeting to a close.

It nearly always proves a hugely competitive meeting but help is at hand in the form of the Ebor Service. Expertly written by the bettrends team, subscribers can receive a detailed preview of each and every race spanning all four days of the meeting, along with our suggested bets.

For a flavour of what the service is about, in the July Meeting Service we wrote:

“I suggested that Sans Frontieres was a horse worth keeping an eye on in the Hardwicke and as it was I thought he posted an encouraging effort, picking up nicely in the straight after getting involved in some buffeting coming round the turn. He looked set for a bright future when finishing runner-up to Delegator in last season’s Craven Stakes before finishing strongly when 3rd behind Black Bear Island in the Dante. However, he then suffered a setback which kept him of the track for the best part of a year so it is hardly surprising that he has been taking a while to get back to full fitness as he is a bid strapping colt. As his pedigree suggests, the step up to 12f really suited him at Ascot and if he is too big a price for this tomorrow,  I won’t be able to resist each-way.” Won the Princess Of Wales’s sportingbet.com Stakes at 14/1
