Saturday, May 8th
This is the final week’s copy (extended after missing one week earlier in the season to incorporate the Swinton Hurdle card) of this NH Season Weekend preview and I hope it has been of use to you and you have enjoyed it using it in addition to your own thoughts. Summing up, it [...]
The final day of a marathon meeting and unquestionably the weakest in terms of quality. Although this is another eight-race card, only the insane should be looking at the last two races which are for 28 unraced bumper horses and another 28-runner field in a charity sweepstakes so I have pretty much overlooked those.
2.30 IRISH [...]
Saturday, April 24th
The final week of the NH season but not quite the final week of this service as I mentioned earlier I would add on an extra week for the weekend following the Cheltenham Festival which was omitted as I was at Cheltenham that week. I did initially mention I would cover Guineas Weekend [...]
Two Grade 1 races but the remaining races look close to impossible so go easy on those. Or we could just blindly back Willie Mullins!
3.40 KFM HUNTERS’ CHASE
The opening Hunter Chase looks a fairly modest affair and I have decided not to cover the race. It says it all when a 50/1 shot won it [...]
3.40 AON INSURANCES HURDLE

The Bet365 Gold Cup closes the season at Sandown on Saturday and, just like seemingly every other major staying handicap chase this season, it looks devilishly competitive. With Punchestown taking centre stage this week, there has been little press comment about the race so we are guessing to an extent which horses will have their [...]
3.40 MARTINSTOWN OPPORTUNITY SERIES FINAL HANDICAP HURDLE
A lovely 25-runner handicap hurdle featuring moderate horses to kick off so go easy.

CONCLUSION
If Noel Meade’s horses were in better form I would be keener on RAHAN DE MARCIGNY who has caught the eye more than once since J P McManus bought him out of [...]
After the first day of Aintree I felt that meeting was going to be as tough as Cheltenham but we recovered over the next two days and I know some of you got far juicier prices than the eventual SP of 22/1 for Always Waining in the Topham Trophy. Onto Punchestown, where I will cover [...]
